MIM Process Eliminates Sharpening
MICRO’s metal injection molding process incorporates challenging material and eliminates costly sharpening operation.
A major surgical device company recently partnered with MICRO to bring an exciting new device to market. One of the components required the use of a challenging, implantable grade material (CCM) and was originally envisioned as a stamped part that would require a secondary sharpening operation.
MICRO’s Development Group suggested that the part be made using MICRO’s state-of-the-art metal injection molding (MIM) process. Ultimately, this process yielded a finished component with an ultra sharp .005” radius tip requiring no secondary sharpening operation.
